Portrait® Plasma Skin Resurfacing

Dr. Ort is the first dermatologist to bring Portrait Plasma Skin Resurfacing technology to the Denver Metro Region! Plasma is a novel technology that removes the top, damaged layers of your skin to reveal healthy new skin underneath. The technology is revolutionary because it also stimulates collagen on a cellular level, creating dramatic changes in skin texture, tone and suppleness.

This new technology is an attractive alternative to resurfacing lasers because it is able to improve skin tone, texture, dyschromia and wrinkles, but in less time with a shorter post-treatment recovery time. It works on all skin types.

The PSR device, approved by the FDA, uses ultra-high frequency radiofrequency energy to convert nitrogen gas into millisecond plasma pulses. When directed from the handpiece onto the skin, the plasma transfers its energy, causing thermal heating of tissue from the skin's surface into the dermis. Because of the non-ablative nature of the plasma pulses, the surface of the skin remains intact for the first 24 - 48 hours and acts as a protective coating to the underlying skin, enhancing healing.

Once healing is complete (less than a week), you will have dramatically smoother, tighter, and evenly pigmented skin. And the skin continues to improve for one year after treatment, with new collagen laid down over time.
